Christine’s 8th, 9th, and 10th Month

I was trying to post pictures monthly, but it ended up being every other month. Now it’s been three months since the last time. But hey… at least I’m right on the day… today Christine is 10 months old! I’ve done the usual thing and posted pictures in the 20080804 Christine’s 8th, 9th, and 10th Month gallery. These aren’t all of them (there are 18 pictures), but here is a selection of thumbnails:

A lot has happened in the last three months. She’s still as squirmy as ever. She can crawl, and motors around pretty quickly. She can also stand up in her playpen or while holding onto the couch (or other similar things). When you try to walk with her she doesn’t really want to. She wants to get down and crawl away. It’s probably good she can’t walk as when she does, she’ll be everywhere!

She’s a big girl! At her 9 month checkup she weighed 22 pounds. She now has 4 teeth. The front two on the top and bottom are all in at different lengths. She has figured out how to grind her teeth so she can hear them make a noise. She tries to say a couple of words. She says “dada” a lot, occasionally says “mama”, and tries to say “all done” or “ta da”.

She is still a very happy baby. She cries a little more than she used to when she is hungry or when she wants to crawl around, but more often than not she’s smiling, “talking”, and laughing. Andrew and Matthew can really get her going. It’s hilarious to see.

I guess that’s about it. I won’t wait three months before the next posting. I’ll be sure to post right after she turns 1.

Huge image gallery update

I admit it. I can be pretty lazy sometimes (just ask Lisa)! We could debate in what area of my life I am the most lazy, but one thing’s for sure… I haven’t been very good at keeping the site up-to-date. While I was at the cottage I got a bunch of pictures ready and I’ve posted some galleries (14 different galleries to be exact). I know some of them are getting old, but I figured I’d post them anyway.

As a side note, the picture gallery now has 3,896 pictures in it!

Christine’s 6th and 7th Months

Christine Lisa Wing at 7 months

As they say, time flies when you’re having fun… and with Christine, time flies fast! She is so much fun. We can’t believe how happy she is. I’ve done the usual thing and posted pictures in the Christine’s 6th and 7th Months gallery. These aren’t all of them (there are 60+ pictures), but here is a selection of thumbnails:

She rarely cries, and is usually making some sort of noise (talking) and smiling. She is out of her “stunned” phase, and now often looks quite serious. She has been eating “solid” foods for a little while. I was teasing Lisa that the foods weren’t really that solid, but I guess it still counts. At her 6 month checkup, she weighed 18 lbs.

She has stopped spitting up (miracles will never cease!) so she doesn’t smell like rotten milk anymore. Yay!! She plays with her feet, and pretty well anything else she can get her hands on. And almost everything she can get her hands on ends up in her mouth. Speaking of hands, she has learned to clap on demand.

She really (that’s an understatement) likes to rock herself. She would go berserk in the Jolly Jumper. She moves her rocking chair across the room (even though it has no wheels). She entertained a group of school kids the other day at Andrew’s school as she rocked herself during a school play. I’d try to describe it (she basically moves forward and back very hard), but seeing is believing. She can usually stay sitting up on her own until she starts rocking and falls over.

She has her first two teeth (I call them bottom front teeth, Lisa calls them lower incisors). As has happened with Andrew and Matthew, the arrival of teeth also meant she was sick. She tries to pull herself up whenever she is down (physically, not emotionally). She can get into a crawling position but doesn’t move anywhere yet.

Lastly, she is a pretty funny girl. As I said, she smiles all the time. The other day we were driving to Lisa’s parents place (Christine’s Grandma and Grandpa) and she sneezed and then giggled like she had told a joke or something. It was very funny!

Christine’s 4th and 5th Months

20080304_christines_4th_and_5th_months.jpg

Yes, it’s been two months since my last update. I left the 4th month update so late that I figured I’d just combine the 4th and 5th months. She reached 5 months last Tuesday. I’ve posted pictures in the Christine’s 4th and 5th Months gallery

Christine is a great little baby. Actually, she’s not so little anymore. She chugs back her bottles and is eating her oatmeal and rice “paste”. She still pukes quite a bit. When we were Dr. Pallie’s a month ago, she said it was probably just that her sphincter muscle wasn’t tight enough yet. She didn’t think it was anything to worry about. She is well-proportioned, and nicely plump (or so Lisa says).

I think we’ve mentioned before that she does not like to lie on her back. She likes sitting up in her chair, or being held (but sitting up). We got our “Ultra Saucer” down out of the attic, and she loves it. Between that, and the Jolly Jumper, she bounces an awful lot. You’d think this might make the puking problem worse, but it’s ok 🙂

Lisa thinks that Christine has a full-head of luscious hair. I guess all of the other babies that were born last year have less hair, so I think Lisa is ready to have a perm done. If not a perm, then Lisa is excited to get out the bows and barrettes.

She is back to sleeping through the night again. She goes to bed around 9 or 10 pm, and is up around 7 am. She is a little fussy now, as some teeth are ready to come in. She often has very rosy cheeks, and chews on everything she can get her hands on.

Pictures from Christmas

I have a bit of time in the evenings this week, so as we’ve been watching the Star Wars movies, I’ve been putting the galleries online. I have 3 galleries ready from Christmas:

  • 20071224 Christmas Eve Party – There are pictures from the annual Christmas Eve party at our house
  • 20071225 Christmas Day – Lisa’s parents were here for the Christmas Eve party and stayed over. These are pictures of the 3 kids and all of their presents.
  • 20071227-29 Christmas Dinner at Church – On Thursday, December 27 we had our big family dinner (after a bunch of us were sick on Boxing Day) and then on Saturday we all got together again (unfortunately without Jason). These are pictures of the gym, us eating, as well as the various group pictures we tried to take.

Christine’s Third Month

christines_third_month.jpg

Yes, I know I’m a bit late, but Christine reached 3 months on Jan 4. I’ve posted pictures in the Christine’s Third Month gallery

She is doing great! She seems to be able to recognize us now. She especially recognizes Lisa as she gets the biggest smiles. Lisa loves putting all the colourful clothing on her. Her favourite outfit is a polka dot dress with striped leotards (there should be some pictures in the family gallery above).

Christine spends a lot of time doing tummy crunches. I guess she is still trying to keep her girlish figure. She does not like to be lying down. She likes to sit up and look around. Some people say she always looks like she is surprised (as shown by the picture above).

She is still throwing up a little after eating. The boys and I have started calling her Puke-adot (Lisa’s favourite dress plus Christine’s favourite habit).

Here’s a sneak peak for next month… she rolled over yesterday!

Lastly, when Julia was here she bought a new web cam and gave us her old one. If any of the non-locals want to see the kids, get one for your computer and we can “chat”… like Julia and Aden 🙂

Christine’s Second Month

20071204_christines_second_month.jpg

Wow, time really does fly! Christine is now a few days over two months old. She is growing like a weed. I’ve posted pictures in the Christine’s Second Month gallery.

This week Christine went to the doctor and had her first set of booster shots. She didn’t like them. Matthew told Christine that it was going to be fun. Then Matthew got his flu shot (he called it a flu-lo shot) on the same day and told Lisa they had to stop going there. Christine now weighs 12 lb 5 oz and is 60 cm long with a 40 cm head.

She is cooing and smiling a lot more. At the Ward Christmas Party last night she was Miss Personality, “talking” with people who held her or came to talk to her.

Lisa is very happy because she has slept through the night 6 of the last 7 nights. Yee Haw (Lisa’s words)!

Andrew’s School Pictures

Andrew had his school pictures done, and rather than pay way too much for the pictures and end up with a bunch we don’t need, we paid too much for a photo CD so we could print what we needed. The pictures come in a variety of sizes and in colour or black and white:

  • 3″x5″
  • 5″x7″
  • 8″x10″
  • 3″x5″ or 2½x3 “greeting cards”
  • 2½”x3″ grade card
  • 2½”x3″ named card
  • 8″x10″
  • 10″x8″ calendar
  • 1¾”x2″ small wallet size

This is the regular photo:
