Happy Anniversary Lisa!

Yesterday Lisa and I celebrated our 9th anniversary. Apparently that is the pottery or leather anniversary. I didn’t get her either 🙁

We went to East Side Marios for dinner (when it is my turn to die, I’d like to die from an Italian Wedding Soup overdose) . Afterwards we went to a Christian bookstore on Lake Street looking for VeggieTales stuff. We had a very nice evening together. Julia stayed home with the boys. I was going to say she looked after them, but we question that… (it’s a long story) 🙂

Happy Anniversary Lisa. I love you!

Another Monday, another FHE

Dinner: Lisa – chicken and rice wraps and caesar salad (thanks Lisa for the recipe)
Lesson: Julia – showing kindness (Andrew helped by showing us different pictures of Christ)
Activity: Andrea – Jenga (Lisa, Julia and Andrea all made it topple. I remain undefeated!)
Snacks: Graham – waffles (the whipcream Lisa made was the best part)

Before dinner we went to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I’ve never been before, but I liked it. It’s kind of a Value Village for home improvement supplies. I think we’re going to be getting a door for Julia’s room there complete with door knobs and hinges for $15. They had stacks of ceramic tiles of different shapes and sizes, cupboard doors and much more. If you have one in your area and have some work to do in your home, check it out.

I called the White House

So, as most of you know, Rumours Night Club is owned by the company I work for. I was in the club today checking some settings on the credit card units, when I noticed that they had some stickers for one of the local radio stations, Wild 101. On the back of the sticker were some “important phone numbers to remember”. Among them was the White House, CNN News, the Barry Manilow International Fan Club, and an escort service. I figured that they were all fake numbers, so I called the White House. Well, you know what…? It was the White House! 202-456-1414. A woman answered (no automated message). Here’s the conversation:

Woman: White House

Graham: Is this the White House.

Woman (after a short pause): Yes, this is the White House in Washington.

Graham: Oh, sorry, someone gave me this number and I didn’t believe it was the White House. I guess it is.

Woman: Yes it is.

Graham: Ok

Woman: Thank you for calling.

It was pretty funny. I felt stupid, but the woman was very pleasant. You’ve got to believe that she answers dozens if not hundreds of stupid calls a day. Now I’m in that elite group 🙂

Andrew’s “Bob the Tomato”

Monday night brought Family Home Evening. Julia bought pizza for dinner, Andrea and Mandy bought refreshments, Lisa taught a lesson on the vision of the tree of life. We need to hold to the rod… or to the jute (that’s what she had tied across the entrance way). I was in charge of an activity, and we played Junior Pictionary. Andrew drew a nice picture of Bob the Tomato from VeggieTales.

It’s not sickening…

It’s the first Sunday of the month and so it was Fast Sunday. Lisa suggested that we get together and have dinner. Lisa made her famous “soda pork” (ask her how it got the name) and Mom made ribs. Good stuff Lisa and Mom!

Lisa made a cookie dessert with strawberries and cream cheese. I wasn’t a big fan of it, but Mom seemed to like it. However, when describing it, she said that “it wasn’t sickening”. Dad and I thought that was a pretty funny compliment to give. I could probably make a very long list of foods that I don’t think are sickening. But I guess that is an idea for another posting…

Let there be walls…

Well, Julia finally has real walls. On Thursday we (Dad, Julia, Lisa, and I) spent all day putting up some walls for her. We didn’t run into any problems, but since we aren’t experienced, it took longer than expected. Then yesterday I finished up and everything is done now except for a door. We can certainly see the potential of the basement now.

I guess everyone will see it tomorrow at the big BJW Bash.

50% Off at Value Village

I think today was the first day I’ve ever been to Value Village on the 50% off day. It was quite busy. Andrea bought a huge cushion for her bed (it’s the size of her bed and is in the shape of a “U”). Julia and Lisa both bought some stuff. Brie brought some necklaces to take apart for beads. I got nothin’!

We then came home and Julia tried to teach us a FHE lesson on keeping the Sabbath Day holy. Andrea eats, sleeps and watches Grey’s Anatomy on Sunday. Lisa prepares her lesson. I sleep.
